Happy Father’s Day my fellow fathers!
The scripture I would like to share with you today is found in Genesis 18:19. Here’s what God says about you: “I have chosen him so that he will direct his children and his family after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing what is right and just”. Wow, search what a high calling and responsibility. I would like to encourage you to accept this mandate from God and by His grace to remember what a high calling it is – to be a father. I’d like to focus on three things as we strive to fulfill God’s given role in today’s world.
Firstly, sale PRAY FOR THEM. God has chosen every father to be the priest in his home. He would intercede before God for his family and his children. First of all, none of us can do for the children what God expects us to do. This is why we need to pray for ourselves and for them. Our God hears and answers the prayers of the fathers. Never give up praying for your children. Jesus said: “Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.” John 14:13-14.
Secondly, LOVE THEM. God is love. We as fathers need to know God personally and experience His forgiveness, his mercy and grace. Our hearts need to be transformed by His grace. If everything fails, love never fails. It is important to have a loving mother, but it is even more important, especially for the girl to have a loving and caring father. Here comes my favorite Bible verse about the love of God: “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
Thirdly, LEAD THEM. You deeds speak louder than words. What this world needs today is the fathers that actually accept the mandate from God to lead by example. This is sacred responsibility to instruct and teach the principles of God’s Word. It was not given to teachers or pastors but first of all to the fathers. “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6.
I thank God for my father, his prayers, his love and his example.
Wishing many blessings and Happy Father’s Day!
